The South Dorset Ridgeway is part of the South West Coast Path National Trail and was the original route to be designated; the route around Portland was only added in 2003. It runs from West Bexington to Osmington Mills, decreasing the total distance of the South West Coast Path by 25 miles or 40 kms.

Although it is some distance from the sea, it is part of the National Trail as it offers stunning views of the Jurassic Coast. The route also provides the opportunity to explore one of the UK’s most significant ancient ceremonial landscapes. See also the South West Coast Path (Dorset).

Hi Phil, The trail database was set-up a fair few years ago and is now no longer maintained. We switched the website from being a trail information site to a holiday business 5 years or so ago and that's where we have put our energies since. That said, the lack of support for GPS file download has bothered for me for sometime so one of us will probably implement that in the next few months.  Thank you very much for using the site.

Please could you correct the gps points download. This opens a popup window with the contents of the gpx file displayed, I had to cut and paste this into a notepad file and save as a gpx file. This link should just offer a file to download with a save window to choose the location.
